This leaflet, containing Church news and views, is published  every month and is delivered to every house.

Pastoral Assistants

Some members of the congregation have completed Diocesan training as Pastoral Assistants and support the Staff in parish pastoral care.

Social Events

Fellowship is a strong element of parish life and is encouraged by regular social events throughout the year. These include the Summer Fayre and Pancake Feast as well as many other varied activities, with the emphasis on fun.

Confirmation

Confirmation marks entry into full membership of the church. The Confirmation Service takes place in the presence of a Bishop after a series of preparatory sessions led by the Staff.

Holy Matrimony

Those who reside within the parish boundaries, may be married at St Mary’s Church. Prior to the ceremony, interviews are held, followed by a rehearsal in church. Banns must be called on three consecutive Sundays before the marriage. Those who do not reside in the parish and who are not on the Parish Electoral Roll, may be married under a Special Licence which is granted under specific circumstances. Details can be obtained from the Staff.

Bereavement

At times of bereavement, Staff support the family by visiting and by offering spiritual and practical guidance.

Weddings and Funerals

Fees are charged by a nationally agreed scale. A list of these fees can be found in the church porch.

Home Communion

The Staff are always available to hold home communions for those who are unable to come to church.

Sunday School
